All I am asking is for a couple of minutes of your time to go to this site and send a prewritten letter to Illinois politicians who can help save the funding to help those with disabilities both children and adults.

There is no way to begin to express what the State is doing to the field of human services and specifically to people with developmental disabilities. The State of Illinois has notified Clearbrook that all of our programs will either be eliminated or, at a minimum, reduced by about 40%.

Since Clearbrook's founding in 1955, the number of clients that have received services and support has grown to nearly 3,000 each year - and the number is climbing.

Clearbrook offers programs and services both in-home and at more than 40 locations in 80 communities in the Chicagoland-area. Clearbrook empowers people with disabilities to live their lives to their fullest potential.

While it is hard to imagine that the State will actually do this, it is my responsibility to prepare you for the possibility that Clearbrook may be faced with the reality of these program cuts with the current severe budget shortfalls. In my opinion, this budget demonstrates that there is no regard for our mission and/or the people who work at Clearbrook. It is apparent we being used as pawns in the political process and our voices have not been heard enough.

While the days are growing few, I still believe that there is time to be heard but it must be today!! To save the clients, families, and staff from their worst nightmare, your voices need to be heard very loud, very clear and they need to be heard NOW!

How is Clearbrook Impacted?

·         Most of the programs at the Getz building in Palatine will be reduced and our Regular Work Program will be completely eliminated.

·         The CILA program will be greatly reduced. As we find out the exact budget reductions, many homes may have to close. The next task would be to determine how to apply the CILA funding that remains.

·         Clients will be terminated from services and staff positions will be eliminated.

How Can You Help?

·         Contact your legislators and demand that they restore the cuts to Human Services.
