Anyone do the pay to take surveys thing?
8:46 AM on Feb. 12, 2008
I started out years ago at MYSURVEY, and over the years have managed to rack up quite a bit of points (which converts to cash), and have tested a plethora of different products that have yet to hit the market (  Crest Whitestrips new product, a new Tide scent, etc.) However, I have yet to find any other survey place that compares to them. Most places want to enter you into a Sweepstakes, and then maybe, after wasting an hour of your time on a long drawn out survey, you just "may" win some cash for it...NO thanks. Anyone know any places besides MYSURVEY?

I have to admit that I've tried my share of survey sites in hopes of making money but the majority of them are a waste of time. It got to the point where I realized that I wasn't making enough money to be worth my time so I just gave up. I figured my time was more valuable than filling out some stupid survey.

cassiem, thanks for the tip on Pinecone. My husband is convinced every one of them is a scam and won't even let me apply for them in case they rip off my PayPal account. I'll tell him about that one though as they sound reputable as does MySurvey. Thanks leighdhu for bringing the topic up.

Some of them are actually legit, but I still avoid them as there is no real way to tell if they're legit or not. Word of mouth means little on the internet, in the time it takes me to say that Picasso couldn't draw a straw, someone would buy his masterpiece for billions.

The ones to look for are ones that have rules behind them, ones that will penalize you for being inaccurate in your answers by cross-referencing them. The ones that go to actual levels of effort to get a real answer are the ones that are most likely legit.

Most of the surveys sucks. They all are just scammers. So i do not trust them and do not waste any of my time there. It is better not to waste any time. Only if any of my friends suggest a good survey, i will enter into it. I was working for awsurveys for some time. But i did not reach the minimum payout as it was 75$ which is huge. Hence i just quit it.

Thanks, I think will do just that. I wonder though, if I will to re-register since it has been so long? That would suck because it's not open invitation like most of them. I will check it out tomorrow and see though. I could always use the extra cash :-).

You should check it out! If you are still active just let them know what happened and I'm sure they will get it all sorted out really quickly for you. I just done two surveys this week and got my money in paypal and love it! Its great especially when you need a little extra cash!

I signed up with Pinecone a few years back but since that day they have never sent me even one survey ! Maybe I will go back and see if I am still active. For a while I kept checking in, but since I never got anything I just gave up.

Oh you will just flip out when you hear this! There is a company called Pinecone Research that is BETTER than MySurvey. They are currently paying $3 per survey and they deposit directly to your paypal OR send you a check within a day or two after completing the survey. I've been with them for over a year now! They don't openly accept members but I will see if I can find an email with a code maybe you can use!

Yeah, Amanda, those are the kind that I avoid. I hate when they put a limit on the amount of points you can spend on one gift card. It would even be different if they would let you get the same card twice with your points, but it is useless when you can only get one gift card. For example, one place I know in particular will let you accumulate enough points to get a $5 gift card for Barnes and Noble. Now what in the heck can you get for $5 at Barnes and Noble. And these are online gift cards at that, so you will also have to factor in shipping and handling.

I have no real good experiences with the survey companies online. Especially the ones that give you points to redeem for other things; however, you can only get each things 1x and then you have to chose something else. So you can't wrack up your points and trade them in for several gift cards for one store. That is crap

There is also something else that is kind of neat called BZZ Agent. Has anyone here had any experience with that ? I've heard quite a few good things so far.

I, too, belong to NFO/MySurvey. A good friend suggested I try it, and though I had tried out a few others both before AND after, but they either had those dreaded last-minute catches or never paid out.

Geez, that's just horrible, but it makes total sense. They makes lots, we make none, and then they take the money and run. What a bunch of crooks. And selling our information? That can't be legal. I'm game for a new group here where we can share our experiences of the good, bad, and ugly sites out there.

It has been my experience that many websites aggregate databases full of information and sell them to large companies. They tell innocent, good people how much money they can make, working from home, choosing your own hours ect. The carrot is dangled just out of reach; so you do not make any money, but they do. This is a form of treatment that borders on criminal. They even sell the information of the people that they hire to take the surveys. How do I know? I have dealt with these people in the past. They try to sell their databases to businesses. Unfortunately, most of the data is crap. If there are others that have been scammed by companies, mabey there should be a group(On NetToMe, perhaps) exposing the fraud, so others aren't waisting there valuable time.

Ah noo, Cireeyes, Global Test suckered me at one point too. It seemed like I would never reach that minimum pay out, so I just stopped wasting my time on them. Oh, and avoid GoZing too. Just as Musiclover said, I was NEVER qualified after spending a ridiculous amount of time filling out my stats.
cirereyes - 6:32 AM on Feb. 14, 2008  [ message ]
Yes, I've tried to take some surveys but I still haven't reached their minimum number of points before they would even pay me. I think the name of the company was Global test marketing. Maybe it’s also time for me to try MYSURVEY, and thanks for sharing.

I've been trying out A LOT of survery sites lately and here is what keeps happening to me. I spend anywhere from 5-15 minutes on a survey and then they tell me I'm not qualified to finish it. It's really annoying. I have never tried MYSURVEY, so maybe I'll check it out.
