Tree Murder

Every year people chop down millions of trees for Christmas. Why don't the environmentalists say anything about this? Some big cities cut down 80 foot, 150 year old trees to show off. Cutting down a tree like this for one month is stupid.

Well I wouldn't normally agree with you because guess what? My hubby was and will be again soon, in the LOGGING INDUSTRY! So yes, he CHOPS down trees for a living! BUT, those trees are then in turn made into something like paper etc etc.. SO, with the aspect of chopping down huge nice trees that are 150 years old, I totally agree. THEY SHOULD NOT TOUCH THESE.. Why? Because just like Leighdu said... they have farms that grow "Christmas Trees" and they don't affect the environment.

Now that I think about it isn't there some kind of thing going on where farmers are growing trees specifically for Christmas and staying away from the forests ? Supposedly they can recycled right back into the soil, and in many cities has recycle bins set up. If this is the case in anyone's city, and they really want a Christmas tree, I say support your local farmer. It would be good for the economy also.

Yea rightly said, there must be an international convention so as to stop this massacre as this is adding to the already degrading standards of the forest reserves on the planet. Something concrete has to be done to stop the mass cut down which is bad in long run.

Yup, I agree with you and I think environmentalist should take note of that. I do not think it is good deal to cut down 150 years old tree for just one month show!! The temperature of the earth is rising and such practices add to it. I personally do not use real Christmas tree rather use synthetic one. I am doing my bit!!

Hi,

I agree with you! It is stupid to cut down a tree to use it for just a couple of weeks. Those trees could have converted alot of carbon dioxide into oxygen. It really is a waste. It would be better if people would buy and use then reuse the artificial ones instead of killing a tree.

I am not the tree hugger type, but I do love nature.

Aside from the messiness, this is one of the main reasons I have used artificial trees. I was watching a lumberjack (is that what they are called?) on a show the other day chopping down these absolutely stunning and beautiful trees that had been around for centuries and just made me sick..ugh.. I still did want to try a real tree for one year, but now I am feeling bad again :-(
